IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Though currently closed to outside visitors, Pennswood Art Gallery presents an exhibition of new paintings and collages by Brooke Lanier beginning on Sept 13, 2020. At that time the public is invited to enjoy the show virtually by viewing Lanier’s illustrated Artist’s Talk on YouTube. Pennswood residents may visit the gallery, and also view the Artist’s Talk on TV 1970 & Touchtown Community App.

Lanier owns and operates a gallery, studio, and classroom space in center city Philadelphia. Noted for her original interpretations in oil of land- and waterscapes,  she explores and re-explores the fine details of her subject,  sometimes refining the images to startling simple abstractions. With others she increases the complexity of the image by assembling painted elements in collage achieving satisfying balance and beauty.

Collected internationally, Lanier has shown her work in Rome, Prague, and across the United States, most notably in The Smithsonian Institute and the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.  She teaches watercolor painting at Tyler School of Art, Temple University.

The Lanier exhibition continues Pennswood Art Gallery’s participation in the years-long celebration of the Pennswood Village 40th Anniversary.
