Tasha Doremus created the series "The Fire That Lurks Within All Things" while on residency in Iceland. She photographed the same location at different times, printed the photos, altered them, and re-photographed them in front of the original location.⁠

The title is a reference to a passage from Gunnar Gunnarsson's "The Good Shepherd." ‘Now and then the ice-shoes struck sparks from the stone, so that you could feel in the nose the fire that lurks within all things.’⁠
